Bruce Bourgoin (President) - 2019 will mark Bruce's 7th year as a West Hartford Youth Football League (WHYFL) volunteer and his 2nd year serving as league President. Bruce became a WHYFL volunteer with the main goal of teaching, his son Austin, his daughter Scarlett, and all the great kids that participate in the WHYFL, the fundamentals of football. Bruce has a passion for guiding kids through the great lessons of life and equipping all players with the proper skills to succeed in football. He enjoys tremendously the camaraderie that is experienced with the families and other volunteers and he relishes in the friendships that he has made. Bruce believes playing football builds fortitude and resiliency, it bolsters self-confidence and gives one courage. He believes football is the ultimate team sport and teaches one how to be the ultimate teammate. Moreover, he believes football teaches that anything is achievable if you are willing to put in the work. It lets you know that goals can be difficult to achieve, and that typically the most difficult goals to achieve are the most rewarding.

The WHYFL is dear to Bruce's heart as many of his family members have either coached or played in the league throughout its existence. His grandfather Aldo Gandolfini coached in the 60s when his uncle Carl Gandolfini played. Additionally, spanning three generations, Bruce's cousins Jack Calcaterra, John Calcaterra, Peter Calcaterra and Johnny Calcaterra also played in the WHYFL. Last but not least, his brother, Brian Bourgoin, played with Bruce in the 80s.

In high school, Bruce was a great talent on the football field. He played at Conard High School, in West Hartford, CT, for Coach Rob Cersosimo.  Following high school, Bruce enjoyed playing on the collegiate level as a Linebacker at the University of Connecticut. Bruce's hard worked earned him a football scholarship at UCONN. Bruce is dedicated to the WHYFL!! Feel free to contact him anytime regarding the WHYFL.

Sol Ramsey (Treasurer) - Although Sol is a Connecticut native, he has lived in various cities on both the East and West coasts and has resided down south. Sol brings over 20 years of passionate coaching and mentoring in youth football.  Over the years he has had the joy of watching some of his players go on to play in both college and the NFL!! Sol played on a state championship football team in high school at Fairfield Prep in Connecticut.  He fell back in love with the gridiron when the first of his four sons began to play Youth Football.  His other three sons currently all play football (2 in the West Hartford Youth Football League, 1 currently in high school).   Sol has had the thrill of coaching all of his sons and their teammates. More than anything, Sol enjoys teaching young players how to be part of a TEAM, how to show good SPORTSMANSHIP, and leaving all young athletes with LIFE LESSONS that will help them succeed long after their playing days are over.
